How we handle your data

When you use The Jozef Project we collect:

• Your name and email address when you create an account
• Basic profile information about the person whose stories are being captured (name, birth year, hometown)
• Audio recordings made through the app
• Transcripts and polished story text generated from those recordings
• Questions and prompts submitted by family members or contributors

We use your data solely to provide the service:

• Audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription
• Transcripts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to be shaped into written stories
• Stories and recordings are stored securely in your account

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond the service providers listed above.

Recordings are stored securely and are only accessible to members of the account they belong to. Audio is transmitted to OpenAI for transcription and is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy. We recommend not including sensitive personal or financial information in recordings.

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@thejozefproject.com.

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (Australia/US regions)
• OpenAI — audio transcription via Whisper
• Anthropic — story generation via Claude
